Fry’s Electronics

As you could probably guess from the title, I headed down to Fry’s Electronics this weekend. In case you do not know, this is like a computer sales show, but better. First the chain is a real business and they have customer service counter. Second, all sales people seem to have very good communication skills, so when you ask a question you do not get a simple response of five dollars. And third, there are a lot of good deals on mother boards with cpu combos. For example, when my buddy and I went down there this weekend, for a grand total of $202.00, we managed to pick up a 633 celeron with motherboard (on board sound, usb, yada, yada), an atx case, and 256 megs of ram. Now you may say a celeron? But I will tell you from experience, the celeron is a great chip for everyday stuff…maybe not for 3-D modeling and such, but for writing documents and surfing the web…it is just dandy. ANd yes, you may find a better price somewhere else, but at least there is a “building” that you can return too if there are problems 🙂
