[i]”The Ellwood Mesa is home to a myriad of wildlife and features rare vernal pools during the wet season. During the winter season it is often home to large gatherings of Monarch butterflies. The Ellwood Mesa is one of the last remaining open spaces in the area that is open for the public to enjoy. Unfortunately, housing development plans threaten the future existence of this natural habitat / open space.
