Biking To Work, The Next Generation

Having posted about something ?berly geeky about Metroid on the Mac, I felt compelled to add that I’m really enjoying riding my bicycle to work. I first got the pleasure of doing this a few years back while working at the Ty Warner Sea Center, and am totally excited to be able to do it again. Of course, Magellan’s is only about 13 blocks from home, so it’s not much of a workout, but as my wife says, “Something is something.”

It sure is nice not to have to deal with parking, and I’ve definitely reduced my carbon footprint significantly versus the job at Technicolor in Camarillo (which was a 90 mile round trip commute… ugh!)

I’m also toying with the idea of getting a dedicated cargo cycle, though to be honest my current bike (Trek “Drift” beach cruiser) works just fine. Something really cool about those longtail cargo carriers though… it will be interesting to see whether the Kona Ute or the Surly Big Dummy hits shops first.

It’s still free to dream… 😉
