Putting the X to Work: Loads, Vol. 1

I’m finally moving! After having spent fully 10 years in the same apartment, my family and I are moving to new digs. Since I’ve got an Xtracycle, might as well put it to work!

So far I’ve moved the overwhelming majority of the non-furniture items using the bike. I have no complaints at all, though the time I had it loaded up to near capacity I did notice that the handling was affected. Impressive to feel that much flex, but I have to wonder how much different it would be with the Big Dummy? Hard to say how much of the flex comes from the Freeloaders/V-Racks versus the bike frame / Xtracycle combo.

Anyways, it’s been working just great overall, and it’s been a great way to get some exercise. Below is a collection of some of the loads I’ve transported so far.

UPS and assorted computer gear

Clothing for the Salvation Army

20″ iMac G5, 17″ LCD monitor, old Pentium 3 tower, HP multifunction printer

Another shot of the computer load

Kids’ trailer and wife’s bike
