It’s official: RUSA #5454

Randonneurs USA

So I sent in my membership application to Randonneurs USA (RUSA) a few weeks back and just saw that I’ve been added to their website… exciting times!

RUSA is the group sanctioned by the Audax Club Parisien (ACP) to organize and promote randonneuring in the United States. RUSA stages ACP-sanctioned brevets that allow US riders to qualify for the 1200km-in-90-hours Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP)… hence my membership.

My plan is to start doing permanents this year, then get started completing brevet series in the two years after. In order to qualify for PBP in 2011, I need to complete a full series of 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km brevets in the same year that PBP is held.

We’ll just see if that goal is attainable or not, but I’m glad to be starting now – this allows plenty of time to get accustomed to long rides, sort out my equipment, and (most importantly) have a lot of fun!
